Venue: The Lango (outdoor amphitheatre), Footscray Community Arts
Director: Christy Flaws
Musical Director: Biddy Connor
Show Theme:
Reflecting and celebrating 35 years — with room for grief, celebration, the environment, intergenerational stories, and a look to the future.
Info Session:
We held an online info session on Sunday 22 March. You can watch the recording here.
How to Get Involved
There are two ways to be part of the show:
1. Create / Perform You’re keen to be a performer in the show! All performers must be available to attend all the key dates listed in the info sheet.
2. Support Perfect for people who don’t want to perform but would love to help and connect with community. Be part of the Front of House crew, help with costumes, or source props. Let us know what skills you have or what you’re interested in and we’ll be in touch!
Please note: All performers will need to enrol and participate in a Term 2 class and be a Women’s Circus member. If you’re not planning to do a class in Term 2 but are still keen to participate, get in touch at info@womenscircus.org.au.
Accessible application options: If the form below is not accessible for you, alternative options are available — including video or voice call, emailing your answers, or sending a voice memo. Please get in touch at info@womenscircus.org.au.
EOI submissions close Sunday 5th April 2026 at midnight.

35 Years Big Show – FAQs
Do I need to attend all rehearsal dates?
We are asking for performers to attend all rehearsals. If you need to miss one or two dates, please let us know as early as possible so we can plan around it. From 20 September onwards in particular, full attendance becomes very important as we move into run-throughs. All tech, safety, and dress rehearsals at the performance venue are essential.
Will I do the same thing in each performance?
Not necessarily. We may create multiple versions of some acts to keep workloads manageable and to showcase more participants. For example, a tissu act might have a different group performing in week one and week two.
Will act development happen in regular Term 3 classes?
This will depend on how many people in each class are part of the show.
All classes will focus on skill development that may feed into the show. In some cases, you might work on sequences used in the performance rather than a full act. If an entire class is involved in the show, you may develop an act together.
Do the times listed in the info pack include call times?
Yes. The listed times include a two-hour call time before each performance (for example, a 6pm call for an 8pm show).
Will childcare be available during rehearsals?
Childcare can be arranged for rehearsal dates at the Drill Hall if needed—please let us know in the EOI form.
When is the latest date I can withdraw?
We’ve shared as much information as possible through the recorded info session and creative development workshops to give a clear sense of the process and themes.
At this point, we’re asking for a commitment if you’d like to be involved. While we understand that unexpected things can come up, joining the project with the intention of “trying it out” and possibly stepping away later can be disruptive to the group. With that in mind, we’re not setting a future withdrawal date—this is the point to decide whether you’re in.
