Women’s Circus is excited to announce a new partnership with Creative Producer Antonella Casella and a renowned team of circus artists to create Flying Shot, a new work exploring current issues relating to women in sport. Kicking off in January 2022, the team will come together in our Drill Hall home for creative developments, rehearsals, and a masterclass for Women’s Circus members, and a public showing in February.

Inspired both by fictional characters like Magda Zubanski’s sport enthusiast Sharon in “Kath & Kim”, and real AFLW players like Tayla Harris, Flying Shot will be an outrageously hilarious acro comedy spectacular challenging gender expectations and celebrating the AFLW.

The team will collaborate with local AFL Women’s teams, community organisations, and Women’s Circus members to create performances presented at AFLW events and community days throughout Melbourne’s Western Suburbs and beyond.

Included in this amazing artistic line up are Women’s Circus long time trainer and all round legend Sal Frances who will be coming on board as a lead artist, and renowned acro performers Spenser Inwood and Sharon Gruenert (Casting Off).
