Become a Volunteer and help others discover circus

Our Circus Volunteers support the delivery of our community circus workshops alongside our committed and passionate team Trainers. All people belonging to marginalised genders wishing to volunteer with Women’s Circus are required to undertake essential training.

Women’s Circus brings a unique approach to our workshops through applying a feminist and inclusive lens.

To become a volunteer you must be a current or past member and/or have circus experience and complete  a half day of Social Circus training (delivered at Women’s Circus).

The training day prepares you to support our trainers to deliver circus in local neighbourhoods, youth centers, residential facilities, community halls, and through other non-profits providing essential services to communities in need.

Training will:

  • Prepare you to teach circus in diverse and unpredictable settings.
  • Discuss potential challenges of teaching circus in community settings and strategies for dealing with them.
  • Help you find your own unique voice so you can better connect with a wide range of participants.
  • Teach you best practices for sharing circus with vulnerable groups in community settings.
  • Connect you with a community of like-minded circus people who also want to share circus with those who don’t have access to it.

Training days consist of:

  • Physical practice including circus skills
  • Sample scenarios and group problem-solving
  • Short lecture-style sessions with Q & A
  • Break-out small group sessions
  • Role playing and skills practice
  • Feedback opportunities
