Women’s Circus partners with community groups, schools, government agencies and non-profit organisations to provide social circus workshops to individuals in the community often overlooked. Our programs support those facing challenges with mental health, addiction, poverty, violence, trauma, or homelessness.
Our expert trainers have taught and trained at some of Australia’s top circus organisations including the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA), Circus Oz, Westside Circus and internationally. They have extensive experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and those facing barriers including: young people and women experiencing homelessness, eating disorder patients, asylum seekers and refugees, LGBTQIA+ community, and those identifying as having a visible/invisible disability.
This two-hour intro workshop gives your group a taste of a range of circus treats including acrobalance, hula hooping, juggling and manipulation. Participants are encouraged to connect with their bodies and build confidence through games and trust exercises. A great opportunity to see if an ongoing engagement program is the right fit!
In this 5-week program, the group will learn the importance and joy of supporting one another while building individual confidence. This is an ideal program to help build friendship and camaraderie while providing space for participants to move, build strength and coordination and develop long lasting personal practices. Our trainers work to support participants to acknowledge their personal strengths with emphasis on their physical and emotional well-being. Circus skills may include acrobalance, aerials, juggling and hula hooping.
